Target's Store Companion is a new GenAI-powered chatbot designed to support team members by answering on-the-job process questions, assisting new hires, supporting store operations management and ultimately enhancing the shopping experience for customers. "The tool frees up time and attention for our team to serve guests with care and to create a shopping destination that invites discovery, ease and moments of everyday joy," sayd Mark Schindele, executive vice president and chief stores officer at Target.
The Store Companion chatbot can be accessed via an app on store team members' specially equipped handheld devices. With this GenAI tool, Target team members will be able to ask questions like: "How do I sign a guest up for a Target Circle Card?" or "How do I restart the cash register in the event of a power outage?"
Target Corporation plans to introduce the new generative artificial intelligence tool to team members at all of its nearly 2,000 stores by August.
