The Starbucks strawless lid has been unveiled by the company as part of its new push to eliminate plastic straws from its stores in all of its 28,000 stores on a worldwide basis by 2020.
The lid has been designed and manufactured by the brand itself, and is intended to replace the existing lids on the cold and hot drinks to eliminate the need for a traditional straw. The lid is presently being used for select beverages at over 8,000 locations in the US and Canada, and will expand in use in the coming months.
The Starbucks strawless lid will be made available alongside plastic alternative straw options to further eliminate the brand's plastic waste contribution on an international basis.
