Space photography is usually very specific. Photos of other planets and the sun rising up behind the moon amongst other usual space photos are things that we’ve become accustomed to, but what about art involving zero gravity lights? Astronaut Koichi Wakata has the answer.
Most of us have seen the party photos of LED glow sticks being whirled around to create trippy, colorful photo effects, but we never see it happen in outer space. With a spiral top invention by Takuro Osaka and some LED lights, Wakata was able to take some long exposure shots of spiraling lights inside a space station.
Since not many people will ever get to go to space being able to see somebody take advantage of their time and create something original and timeless is a cool glimpse into the exclusive world of astronauts.
