Sozyë is a UK-based gluten-free, fish-free and soy-free sauce manufacturer that offers flavorful plant-based alternatives. Nish, Noyster and Noya are the brand's own answers to fish sauce, oyster sauce and soya sauce, respectively. The allergen-free sauces were created in response to global deforestation for soy sauce crops and they primarily use certified organic Scottish seaweed in place of conventional ingredients.
With its soy alternatives, Sozyë addresses the unsustainable sourcing of seafood and soya. As the brand told FoodIngredientsFirst, "This is an issue that does not get enough attention. Every year, forests are being destroyed globally to cater to the world’s hunger for soy."
Jacob Thundil, chief saucier at Sozyë was inspired to create these free-from sauces after being reminded of fermented soy when creating a vegetarian stock. After much trial and error, Sozyë's soy-free sauces were perfected.
