The Sohanak Swimming Pool is a peaceful pavilion in the Iranian capital of Tehran. Designed by Kourosh Rafiey Architectural Design Studio, better known as KRDS, the angular cement structure includes a changing area and a small spa to accompany the pool itself as well as the surrounding private garden.
The client for whom KRDS built the Sohanak Swimming Pool originally requested a structure nearby the primary residence, but the studio ultimately convinced the client of a more sustainable option. Slightly farther from the residence there was an old, out of use irrigation pond. By converting that pond into the swimming pool, the project had a far smaller impact on the surrounding environment.
The structure's concrete platform extends over the edge of the water, allowing it to serve as a safe diving platform as well as a space for relaxation.
