The Social Innovation Generation (SiG) is a mainstay when it comes to creating a social and environmental impact in Canada. According to the network's website, "SiG is a collaborative initiative seeking to address Canada's social and ecological challenges by creating a culture of continuous social innovation. Our focus is on fostering social innovation to achieve impact, durability and scale by engaging the creativity and resources of all sectors."
In early December, SocialBusiness.org published an interview with the Social Innovation Generation's Executive Director, Tim Draimin, who used to work with Tides Canada. Part one focused on what SiG does while part two explored more timely issues like the global Occupy Movement.
For large-scale change to take place, it's more than necessary for groups like this to foster innovation and support those who might not have access to the resources necessary to spark impact.
