Viewing snakes as deadly and frightful is a survival instinct that many people might be loath to break; yet the photo series, simply titled Serpentine by Mark Laita, may put that resolve to test. Yes, it might focus on some of the deadliest snakes on this planet, but the portraits are so stunning and even beautiful that it would be hard to not walk away in awe instead of fear.
The Los Angeles-based photographer traveled all over the United States and parts of South America, working with collectors, breeders zoos and even anti-venom labs, in order to capture some of these rare snakes. Serpentine by Mark Laita, strangely, has something in common with the 'Twilight Saga.' As Laita says, "This dichotomy, in which their beauty seems to be heightened by their danger, and vice-versa, is what I find so fascinating." The same reason why Vampires are considered so irresistible.
