American furniture and fabric manufacturer Knoll has opened a new NYC store that will change its offering of seasonal products to more closely reflect what consumers are looking for.
This concept to change the merchandise offered in-store at a more rapid pace was inspired by Apple, a manufacturer that has been successful at running and maintaining its own stores. Although production times can prevent furniture from being made quickly, this seems like an attempt to approach home decor like the quick turnaround of fashion from runway to retail stores.
The store is small enough for this to be a possibility every six to eight weeks. The shop opened in the summer, debuting a collection of outdoor furniture. Knoll shop manager Hunter De La Cruz notes that the next change in products will coincide with a back-to-school theme for the fall.
