Crosstown Creates First-Ever Savory Donut with cheesegeek

Cheese, tomato and nuts aren't the first ingredients that spring to mind when you think of a doughnut flavour, but that's exactly what Crosstown and cheesegeek have created with the launch of a new savoury cheese doughnut. The fondue-nut, it's Crosstown first foray into savoury flavours. With the sourdough specialists more known for their inventive, sweet flavour combinations, the one-of-a-kind Double Cheese & Sundried Tomato is set to switch up lunchtime and deliver a savoury experience like no other when it lands in-store and online on 28 May.

The new savoury cheese doughnut starts with Crosstown’s signature sourdough, combined with sweet-tart sundried tomatoes and balanced with two cheesegeek cheeses: Rutland Red featuring in a cheese glaze covering the sundried tomato sourdough, then piped with a nutty Spenwood cheese custard and finished with spiced peanuts.

Spenwood is the British twist on Pecorino and consistently one of the highest ranked cheeses at the World Cheese Awards, whilst Rutland Red is the only pasteurised Red Leicester made in Leicester in the UK by one of the world’s greatest Stilton makers, Long Clawson.

With Crosstown renowned for its signature sourdough and cheesegeek sourcing the very finest, often hard to come by seasonal British cheeses, the collaboration is a match made in heaven for the two companies both devoted to premium products and high quality ingredients.

Both sourdough and cheese are influenced by their environment, using natural cultures to bring them to life. Not only do they have similarities in craft but balance each other’s flavour profiles. With tangy sourdough complementing the rich cheese, a Crosstown x cheesegeek savoury cheese doughnut makes the perfect mouth-watering combination.

The new savoury flavour will be available at Crosstown store locations (excluding markets) in limited numbers from 28 May. It will also be available to order online in boxes of six for delivery across Greater London and Crosstown’s regional locations in Oxford, Bristol, Cambridge and Bath.
