Portland-based ice cream shop Salt & Straw recently introduced consumers to its newest creation—Ramen Ice Cream, which was dreamed up by a student from a nearby school.
The savory ice cream flavor is made with a base of chicken stock, soy sauce, sesame, ginger and brown rice vinegar. To top off the unusual ice cream treat, Salt & Straw adds what it calls "homemade ramen granola and mango eggs."
As part of working with the students of Chapman Elementary on a unique ice cream creation project, Salt & Straw is donating a portion of the proceeds from this flavor back to the school. Salt & Straw has also drawn inspiration from kids for the creation of flavors like 'Pineapple-Star Anise Ripple with Honeycomb Brittle' and 'Salt n' Pepper Carmel.'
