At a first glance, you’d never know that the seat of the ‘2R Armchair’ has parts made from salmon leather. Upon closer inspection, the fish scales can be seen on the fabric; the unique texture provides an interesting contrast to the smoothness of the chair's wooden frame.
Designer Javier Ramirez uses locally sourced materials from Chile to create the chair, like Lenga wood and salmon leather. Although it seems like an unusual textile choice, the fishy ‘eco-leather’ can be dyed and treated just like any other leather. Ramirez’ design is a smart, sustainable one that makes use of the unconventional and widely available material.
The handcrafted '2R Armchair' is simple in its design, getting its name from the angular R-shaped profile of the chair. Aside from its stunning physical form, the chair is especially beautiful in its consideration for the environment.
