The 'SUGAR' lounge chair has been designed by Rebecca Wiik and Emil Ahlgren for Sweden-based furniture brand Johanson Design as a seating solution that aims to rethink approach to furniture design. The chair is constructed with a plywood frame and features padded upholstery that is achieved with a series of cubic cushions across the base and backrest. The fabric-covers cubes are achieved with leftover textiles to give the chair a bit of an eco-friendly edge, while also enhancing its stylistic appearance.
Wiik commented on the 'SUGAR' lounge chair saying, "The aim is to promote conservation instead of waste in a world of technological consumer products with an accelerating complexity. For the future of design, is to value simplicity in the process, to work from a few components and be selective with its materials."
