A group of Pakistani entrepreneurs have launched a female-freindly taxi service, which helps to provide women with safe transportation. For many women in Pakistan, the simple task of getting to and from work can be a daily struggle. Many women face harassment while taking public transit, yet there are few safe and affordable alternatives available.
In response to this pressing issues, a group of Pakistani women organized a fleet of women-driven rickshaws called the 'Pink Rickshaw Project.' The aim of the project is to provide women with convenient and safe transportation throughout the cities of Pakistani. Not only are these rickshaws driven by women, but they are also owned by women. Through taxi ownership, the Pink Rickshaw Project helps to financially empower working-class women by providing them with a reliable source of revenue.
While the Pink Rickshaw Project was only set to launch in the city of Lahore, plans are already being made to expand the service into other parts of the country.
