BAM International has collaborated with Universe Architecture to create a spectacularly innovative and high-tech robotic printer, aptly dubbed the 3D Builder, that is designed to be able to print materials such as concrete and artificial stone and even go ahead crafting together ornamental exterior layers.
The 3D Builder robotic printer makes use of a special bonding liquid that can be dripped onto sand, before it hardens into the desired shape. The process is then repeated again for each layer to eventually be able to lead to the creation of large walls and structures. In principle, this isn't too different from the workings of regular 3D printers.
This robotic printer shows how technology could replace many traditionally human-dependent parts of the construction process, saving both time and money.
