Well-heeled winemakers are abuzz over the Radoux ‘X-Blend’ leather-bound wine barrel with a Swarovski crystal stopper. Radoux debuted the ‘X-Blend’ wine barrel at the Vinitech wine equipment and technology trade show.
The Radoux ‘X-Blend’ wine barrel costs €1200--that’s twice the price of a traditional wine barrel. At this cost, you can expect quality.
As Radoux told Decanter, the barrel itself is comprised of oak from a secret location within France’s prized forests; the metal hoops that hold the wood together are overlaid with leather strips. The buyer selects the oak’s toast for their barrel. And of course, there’s the Swarovski bung (stopper).
