Abstract Eco-Friendly Homes

This Vacation Home is Integrated into a Protected Nature Reserve

'GITC Architecture' designed a unique vacation home that is integrated with a protected nature reserve. For many city-dwellers, a rural retreat provides the perfect escape from daily life. This stunning seasonal home offers a true departure from city life.

'Casa El Maqui' is a vacation home located in Valparaíso, Chile. Unlike most cottages, Casa El Maqui is integrated with a protected nature reserve. In order to leave the natural ecosystem intact, the home was built on a damaged hillside that was free of vegetation. The layout for the building itself was planned around the natural typography, which is the reason for the home's irregular shape. The main living space is surrounded by a bio-filter pond, while the second-story bedrooms are housed inside of a suspended pavilion.

Although the home may look unusual, the unique design demonstrates how architects can work within a protected ecosystem.
