Since collaboration is such an integral part of design, this initiative from France's Makershop asked a group to assemble a 3D puzzle that would eventually lead to the creation of a printed chair. To get the project going, over 70 makers were invited to participate in the project, with each individual puzzle piece featuring the unique stamp each creator brought to the project.
The design of the chair itself was pulled from the Bits & Pieces chair, a 3D printing file that has been made available online. Although it is still quite costly to manufacture a chair like this on your own, participating in a group project like this makes it much more attainable, showing the vital link between maker culture and collaborative design.
