'Print Your City!' is an initiative from The New Raw that aims to put household plastic waste to good use for the creation of new public furniture pieces.
The first furniture piece to be created as part of the project introduces the 'XXX' bench prototype, which was designed for the city of Amsterdam. As noted in a 2015 report from the Municipality of Amsterdam, the average person generates an average of 23 kilograms of plastic waste yearly. As The New Raw notes, XXX is a seating solution made out of the same amount of plastic waste two people in Amsterdam produce every year.
As a whole, Print Your City! is meant to engage citizens, lessen CO2 emissions, repurpose waste and create all-new, functional furniture pieces for the urban environment.
