Looop Can is the name of a portable washing device for refugees that helps to clean menstrual pads and ultimately reduce both waste and period poverty. The sustainable kit includes a recycled steel container for cleaning, 70 grams of baking soda and a reusable cloth pad made from bamboo terry fabric. When it comes to cleaning the Looop Pad, just 500 milliliters of water is needed, and along with the baking soda, this provides a discreet solution for washing, drying and reusing menstrual products.
Created by product design student Cheuk Laam Wong, Looop Can addresses the fact that nearly "60% of female refugees suffer period-poverty problems as they spend their limited funds on food or nappies for their babies."
