Planterra Foods is introducing a competitive plant-based product brand called OZO that makes burgers, meatless ground and meatballs, all of which are free from soy and do not contain artificial colors or flavors. Notably, these products were developed to rival some of the most popular meatless alternatives on the market by offering choices that are lower in calories, richer in protein and contain less saturated fat. For example, while the popular Beyond Burger and Impossible Burger boast 20 and 19 grams of protein respectively, the OZO burger boasts 22.
OZO's plant-based products are made with a combination of pea and rice protein that's fermented with mushroom mycelium. As a result, a balanced amino acid profile is created, as well as a unique, meat-like taste.
