Paper Porcelain Lighting

Paperlain by Ahsayane Studio Boasts an Organic Aesthetic

The paper porcelain pendants lamps are grouped into an aptly named collection, Paperlain. Made out of a unique material it is a mix of porcelain, recycled paper and ceramic pigments, the resulting designs are organic and raw yet playful and modern. Although the paper porcelain light fixtures take on fairly traditional shapes, they look made for the home of a forest nymph.

Designed by Ahsayane Studio, the paper porcelain lamps were molded around existing ceramic bowls, hence their familiar shapes. Design Milk writes, "Eight different bowls were used, each with a different shape, diameter, height and functionality such as kitchenware, fruit bowls and soup bowls." The paper porcelain lamps are then finished using traditional firing and ceramic glazing techniques, resulting in a range of lightweight and colorful designs.
