A freshly renovated paired-back Chinese restaurant is said to "provide an efficient dining experience, as well as easy takeaway and delivery access." This establishment is Bao and it is located in Markham, Ontario. The business is located in a strip mall, sandwiched between a convenience store and a pharmacy. Canadian firm StudioAC was tasked with reworking the aesthetic of Bao and the practice opted in for the paired-back Chinese restaurant aesthetic both due to the aforementioned functional advantages, as well as for the reason that the monochromatic interior and ambiance reflected "Bao's distinctive visual style."
For the project, StudioAC used micro cement for the tables and seating, stainless steel for the open kitchen, and viny for the vertical blindsl—all of which are materials that may be associated with industrial-style design movements.
