Oyster farmers Brigitte and Tony Berthelot have created a 24 hour oyster vending machine on France's Île de Ré.
Earlier this spring, the couple decided to launch their oyster vending machine in an effort to keep up with customer requests for more flexible hours of service at their adjoining shop. The oyster vending machine is now up and running and it sells its goods for the same price as the store, starting at €6.90 for a dozen. The stock is replenished daily and the oysters are served closed for health reasons. If patrons order ahead of time via SMS, they also have the option of adding sea asparagus and pâté to their order.
A meat vending machine was also launched in Paris earlier this year to fulfill the country's love for fast, accessible foods.
