TV app developer 24i Media created a new OTT app for video-on-demand company Videoland, aiming to deliver high-quality content and flexibility for streaming in HD to the European market.
The app is designed to deliver 4K and UHD-quality content to smart TVs, including models from Samsung, LG and Sony. The app also features updates to 24i Media's Smart Operator, which makes configuring a setup possible virtually, without the need for set-top boxes or additional hardware. The app promises to deliver "TV Everywhere," with both subscription and transaction-based models.
On the release of this Over-the-Top TV app, 24i CEO Martijn van Horssen notes: "The 4K display market could be at least $52 billion by 2020 and our work with Videoland and RTL is an early milestone in what will eventually be a standard in the market, which we believe will be led by smart TVs."
