Oscar Olsson Designs the Disco Volante Concept

Industrial designer Oscar Olsson creates the unique Disco Volante turntable concept. It is meant to be mounted onto the wall and boasts a look inspired by flying saucers. It is made to answer the question which prompts, "If I would make a turntable today, how would it look like?"

The designer approached the idea starting by sectioning each component of a turntable into its own elements to create a more platform form. Olsson explains, "The main driver of the design is the sharp contrast between the organic and vivid tonearm housing, and the rational and geometric metal framework. This separation makes it appear as though the tonearm housing is a separate instrument that plays the record."
