Manuelle Gautrand's dynamic design for the Origami Office in Paris is inspired by the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. The office's stunning view served as the main inspiration behind Manuelle's design for the building's facade.
The building, created in two parts, features a transparent section that faces the main city street as well as a private rear section that looks out into the courtyard. The translucent layering of geometric glass shapes allows for the penetration of natural light. The building is covered with a screen-printed marble pattern, resembling a delicately folded marble slab.
The facade's geometric origami-inspired aesthetic transcends the structure's outer shell as well as its interior space. One can experience the full effect of the dynamic shapes and layering when looking at the facade directly. Moreover, when inside the Origami Office, one experiences a jewel-like modulation of incoming light that enhances the stunning Paris city view.
