Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM) is an online satirical "place of worship" that mocks Christianity, or those who believe in Intelligent Design.  Its followers are known as Pastafarians.  Their satire (though they claim their belief is "real") is a simple concept to understand—there is no more proof of Bible God or an Intelligent Designer than there is a creator named the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster has numerous art submissions, their own Gospel, and Pastafarian kitsch available for purchase. Many Christian believers are not only outraged over the FSM Church but the art; the one features the Flying Spaghetti Monster touching Adam with his "noodly appendage"—in place of God in Leonardo DaVinci’s masterpiece, "The Creation of Adam", and the other has Jesus replaced by the FSM in Da Vinci’s rendition of "The Last Supper."

Though the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster began in 2005, many are unaware that it exists.  Regardless, because it has become known, the site has received numerous hate mail from believers.  Here is one, dated July 2008:

"Are you serious? You guys actually believe in this thing? Jesus Christ is the one and only God, he is Alpha and Omega, beginning and end, and he died on the cross for you. He loves each and everyone of us perfectly, there isn’t a love more perfect than his. I think you guys need to reevaluate your belief system a little there."

Apparently the creators of the FSM church have done such a good job in their website presentations that some Christians truly think that people believe and worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster...Geesh!
