"Hope!", a musical about President Barack Obama, will debut in Frankfurt, Germany on January 17th. The musical is based on the 2008 presidential campaign, and follows President Obama’s career by taking a behind the scenes look leading up to winning the election.
Randall Hutchins, the American writer and composer of the play, said he "had the initial idea right at the start of Obama’s electoral campaign and found the atmosphere exciting and that was my inspiration. People hoped change would result in a better life. It was a beautiful, very social time."
According to the website, the musical is an interactive audience experience as well,. "The complete audience will be seated during the musical at the world first 'musical chairs' and will perform with the stars! ...the new music furniture creates a unique musical benefit. In a fraction of a second, percussions with a powerful drum sound are created, coming from the seating position."
