New Era and Yohji Yamamoto continue to work alongside one another on a new collaborative collection for the season. This time around, the duo launch a capsule made specifically for the Fall/Winter 2022 season and it highlights Yamamoto's Mikaeri Bijin artwork.
Essentially Mikaeri Bijin is a unique Japanese term that references a beautiful woman that is looking back over her shoulder, which is a popular pose during the Edo period for ukiyo-e artists. It then become a popular style that was found styled throughout fashion magazines. It was a big part of Yamamoto's ART COMPLEX installation in 2013 and the same prints from that exhibition are seen adorning the silhouettes from the new collection, including bucket hats and tees.
