Live Prison Billboards

Netflix' Orange is the New Black Turns a Building Facade into a Prison

As part of a clever marketing stunt to promote Netflix' Orange is the New Black, the facade of a building in Paris was transformed into a live prison.

The entirety of the building's surface was transformed with bars and uncomfortable cells, making it look as though the women contained on each balcony were straight out the Litchfield Penitentiary.

In the style of a living billboard, onlookers at street level were invited to watch the inmates as they chatted, looked bored, worked out or got rowdy enough to get a warning from officers. Since the orange jumpsuits have become synonymous with the show, this was a powerful way to attract attention for the popular prison-themed TV series.
