Davide Bozzini approached the design of what could have been an ordinary and unremarkable object as an opportunity to create something sensational. The Narciso Umbrella Holder would have been just as functional were it a simple cylindrical bin, but how beautiful is this sculptural alternative!
Beginning with a sheet of very fine metal, Bozzini went about a careful process of bending it into billowing curves. The resultant form of the umbrella stand is reminiscent of the soft ruching of a broad ribbon. Further visual intrigue comes across in the irregular height of the curled material.
A trio of rounded slots are shaped by this technique, allowing the Narciso Umbrella Holder to accommodate at least three wet rain blockers in the front foyer of a home or office.
