Global beauty brand L'Oreal recently unveiled its 'My UV' patch at the annual CES 2016 event in Las Vegas. This unique skin patch is designed to inform wearers about how much sun exposure they are absorbing -- not as a reminder to put on sunscreen.
Using a photosensitive blue dye, the patch is an adhesive product that safely attaches to the wearer's skin to track their exposure to the sun and harmful UV rays. When the wearer is finished with their time in sun, they can upload an image of their patch to the compatible app and view their results.
The My UV patch is ultra thin, lasts about five days and is completely disposable. This unique wearable tech device is much different than traditional products like jewelry or wrist-worn trackers. L'Oreal plans to offer free patches to consumers in the summer months following their unveiling at CES 2016.
