Kotaro Usugami Designs the Captivating Moment Table Lamp

Japanese designer Kotaro Usugami designs the iconic Moment Table Lamp which is defined by its dynamic structure. In addition to the lamp, there were two other lights and a stool that were showcased at the Salone Satellite show. All of the designs were finished with a different surface to form a wide range of impressions. Although all of the items are made using stainless steel and materials, the designer's background in watch design led him to the interest in the material.

Usugami tells Dezeen, "This project is called Ordinary Material / Extraordinary Pieces, and it aims to shed new light on ordinary materials using industrial products such as aluminum and stainless steel. Stainless steel is a highly durable material, and that's connected with the theme of sustainability. It's also not difficult to manage; it's easy to produce. The finishes are all created by Japanese artisans."
