P+0 Architecture designed the 'IPE House,' a Mexican home characterized by its inventive use of outdoor and entertaining space in Monterrey.
The plot was divided into two parts, the primary lot containing a two-storey structure that looks out over a garden, patio and terrace. The architects explain, "There's a deep interconnection between the two halves that extends the length, width and height of space. Both levels are visual[ly] and functionally connected with the garden through enormous sliding glass surfaces."
Inside, the ground floor contains an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area bordered by a glazed wall that overlooks the garden. Sliding doors keep the divisions on the ground floor minimal, as well as maintain the fluidity of the outdoor-indoor relationship. An external staircase continues to connect the upper levels of the house to the outdoor space.
