The Metropole Tweetphony website is a campaign that turns Twitter into a digital musical orchestra. This idea was developed by Havas Worldwide Amsterdam and Perfect Fools to support the the Metropole Orchestra in Amsterdam, which has been experiencing financial issues.
The goal was for Twitter users to be able to use the digital keyboard on the Metropole Tweetphony site to click out a tune. The buttons pressed then appear as corresponding musical notes in the users tweets, which they can then share with their friends to have a listen.
Another benefit is that on the October 26th, the Metropole Orchestra plans to choose some of the songs that have been formed and play them aloud for people to view as a live feed on the site. This graciously allows musical novices to experience a Beethoven moment.
