The Metal Magazine SS13 issue has an unusual editorial featuring Thom Browne's signature oversized check pattern. Photographer Charlie Engman captures the connections between the models of the shoot, with their physical closeness and layered prints that seem to bleed into one another.
The models are dressed in colorful plaid patterns and posed in ways that connects them together as well. For instance, in one of the images, the male model stands facing the camera while the female model is shot in front of him in portrait view. This creates the illusion that their faces are melded into one.
For even more whimsy, stylist Angela Esteban brought in an oversized laundry bag, a playful nod to the origins of the checked pattern.
