Canned fish is a great pantry staple and Trader Joe's wants to help consumers think beyond tuna with its new Mediterranean Dorade.
Dorade is the French name for what's known as Gilthead Sea Bream in English-speaking countries. Trader Joe’s Mediterranean Dorade takes this mild-flavored, white meat fish and offers it in the form of a snackable, shelf-stable tin. As Trader Joe's explains, "Our supplier hand-packs these full, skin-on fillets of Dorade very simply, with just olive oil and a touch of salt." The result is a great protein alternative that clocks in at 29g of protein and just 190 calories per one-tin serving. This makes the fish a great topper for everything from buttered slices of fresh baguette to green salads that need a little something extra.
