Kinney Drugs has completed its installation of 75 medication collection kiosks in all of its New York locations to help make it easier for consumers to properly dispose of expired drugs or meds.
The kiosks were installed in partnership with the NYS Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement and MED-Project, and can be used by anyone instead of only being for Kinney patients. The kiosks can be used for disposing of old or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for humans and pets alike. The kiosks are also a suitable place for controlled substances to be disposed of, but are not for sharps, needles or medical/biohazardous waste.
Kinney Drugs President John Marraffa commented on the new medication collection kiosks saying, "It is crucially important to dispose of medications properly to prevent diversion into the wrong hands or the environment. As a pharmacy, Kinney Drugs is dedicated to keeping people healthy, and these disposal sites provide an easy, convenient way to safely dispose of unwanted medications."
