The 'Martini Smart Cube' is an invention that takes on the look and shape of an ice cube and can be added to a drinking glass in order to detect when another drink is needed. The Martini Smart Cube is able to make this call with the help of Bluetooth technology, so that bar staff are able to know exactly when a patron has finished their drink. This helps to play a part in reducing wait times with serving, while also keeping tabs on the number of alcoholic drinks a customer has enjoyed for safety purposes.
While part of the challenge of this project was keeping the strength of the Bluetooth signal strong in water, the finished design boasts an impressive range of up to 30 meters.
The Martini Smart Cube is set to make its debut at this year's Italian F1 Grand Prix.
