The outrageous Margaret Cho follows in the steps of fellow comedian Kathy Griffin with a new reality show, The Cho Show. The show premiered on VH1 on August 21st.
Similar to Griffin’s "My Life on The D-List", The Cho Show follows Margaret Cho in her real life in Hollywood. This includes her traditional Asian parents and eccentric entourage of gay hairdressers and stylists whom she refers to as, "The Glam Squad."
"It’s a comedy show, sort of reality. It’s pretty scripted in its own way. It’s a new format for television shows," explains Cho. "It’s like a sitcom with real people. It’s me in my daily life and the exciting things that I get to do. My family and my gay friends and I have a lot of adventures."
Margaret Cho rose to fame in 1994 when she starred in the Asian-American sitcom. The All-American Girl lasted only one season, but the experience with the Hollywood big wigs gave Cho plenty of material to use in her shows later.
