There are plenty of landscapes that have been manipulated by human intervention, but Olafur Eliasson’s manmade 'Waterfall' is one of the more unusual ones.
This exhibition is currently on display at the Palace of Versailles, remaining in the Grand Canal until the autumn. From the front of the waterfall, it appears as though the water is magically cascading from an unknown source, but a view from the side reveals the metal system and the pumps that are used to cycle water to the top.
Eliasson describes that: "The Versailles that I have been dreaming up is a place that empowers everyone. It invites visitors to take control of the authorship of their experience instead of simply consuming and being dazzled by the grandeur." The installation of Eliasson’s Waterfall will make Versailles an even more exciting destination for the coming months.
