Nestled in the Napa Valley, Bardessono is the latest creation from eco-developer Phil Sherburne and architect Ron Mitchell.
Opened in February 2009, the luxurious eco-resort claiming to be the greenest luxury hotel in America features rammed earth walls, water treatment systems, and solar and geothermal energy systems. The buildings also include recycled cypress wood for the windows, doors, and floors.
Implications - Instead of proving to be more expensive, eco-friendly technology allows companies like this to dramatically cut down on the amount of money they need to spend on energy and water supplies. As this technology grows increasingly more advanced and cost-effective, more and more businesses (in the hospitality industry or otherwise) will continue to embrace these earth conscious and cost-saving methods.
