Andrew Chow, a video production intern at Trend Hunter, really enjoys a good LEGO stop motion video. Chow is one of the major reasons for the amazing video content that has appeared recently on the site. The die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf fan is a video production guru, even winning an award as Ottawa's best wedding videographer from the wedding industry experts. He's also a huge movie buff and claims he can quote Jim Carrey's Liar Liar word for word.
What is your favorite trend and why?
My favorite trend right now is stop motion. It's nothing really new, but it's being recreated with programs like Vine. A specific video that relates to this trend is this video by Annette Jung and it's a LEGO stop motion video of Michael Jackson. She built Michael Jackson out of these LEGOs and animated it to dance. The time and creativity that went into it is just amazing. It blew me away.
How do you define cool?
I don't really think I have a definition for cool. Cool is something you can't define. If you're into unicorns and rainbows and you think that's cool, then that's cool.. If you're into sports, that's cool too. Cool is whatever you want it to be.
What's your secret to uncovering the best trends?
My secret to finding cool things is just to keep an open mind. The Internet is a vast ocean of information and cool stuff. Just be a sponge and soak in the information of the interwebs.
What's your favorite thing about working at Trend Hunter?
My favorite thing about working at Trend Hunter is coming in every day and doing something I love. Maybe not today and being on this side of the camera, but working at Trend Hunter allows me to come into work every day, do something I love everyday, and have fun.
What's your favorite accomplishment?
My favorite accomplishment would be winning Ottawa's best wedding videographer last year from the wedding industry experts. I felt pretty good about that one, my buddy and I were really excited about it. We didn't get an actual award because we had to pay for it. Check us out! www.knowbyheart.ca!
What's your awesome prediction for the future?
Something awesome for the future would be Google Glasses for everybody! Where you would just have a little heads up display inside your glasses, being able to Google something by looking at it. Or you could watch a video out of the corner of your eye when you're talking to someone that you really don't care to talk to.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I don't think I had any real ambition to be anything in particular while growing up. I definitely loved movies. I would watch Liar Liar and be able to say it word for word, copying Jim Carrey. So yeah, growing up, I wanted to be Jim Carrey.
Is there anything you'd like to add about Trend Hunter?
If you're looking for a place where you can come in the morning and not dread coming to work, then apply to Trend Hunter. It's a great work environment, you get to have fun and do a lot of work. Check it out!
