Canadian architecture firm Atelier Pierre Thibault designed the 'Le Grand Plateau House,' a lakeside residence located in a forest outside of Quebec, Canada. The home is intended as a holiday retreat for a couple who is recently retired.
The principal element of the design is the fact that the home is elevated on slim metal stilts. The house is also blanketed by a terrace that covers the whole roof, allowing greater access to the charming views of the Laurentides region.
The main objective for this design was to give the home the appearance of a "grand plateau that would seem to be floating on a very steep hillside." In the center, a lounge area paneled with glass, allows visitors to take in the views from a safely shaded vantage point.
