By utilizing a book-like carton and a patented dosing valve, the k-haler device hopes to help patients use their inhaler more effectively for better results. Designed by Mundipharma International Ltd. and Precipice Design, this inhaler has already won the 2018 iF Design Award for innovative packaging and is set to be released in Europe by the end of the year.
The decision to design the k-haler device came as a need to help new users better utilize inhalers and therefore see long-term health benefits. This was achieved via an intensive book-like instruction manual but was furthered by the unique k-valve used in the inhaler. Unlike conventional inhalers, which require a button to be pressed, the k-haler device is activated with low inspiratory force. This new mechanism ensures that the proper dosage is administered, while also ensuring the patient is inhaling enough of it.
