It's nothing new for Mattel Inc. to model their iconic dolls after celebrities, but the newly announced Karl Lagerfeld Barbie seems like a bit of a departure. The limited edition Barbie will be available this fall (further dates TBA) and will be created in the likeliness of the revered Paris-based fashion designer.
The Karl Lagerfeld Barbie will be dressed in his custom couturier costume of fingerless gloves, black tailored jacket, high collared white shirt and black skinny jeans. Accessories will include ankle boots, a fat black necktie and dark sunglasses. The American toy company is creating this doll as part of their Barbie Collector Series.
With recent news that Karl Lagerfeld's pet cat Choupette will be starring in her own campaign for Shu Uemura, it's been a big week for the Lagerfeld family.
