John Procario is an American designer who is doing some amazing things with wood. Procario has created wooden lamps that bend in a most unnatural way. The lamps are designed to mimic the human body in the sense that our limbs can be extremely flexible, but at a certain point our bones will break and our muscles will tear.
The designer creates his lamps using strips of ash wood and white oak. The wood is then put into a steam box where it becomes malleable and flexible. Procario then joins the wood together and laminates it, installing LED lights after the body of the lamp has formed. John Procario's lamps are like none other, and are as much a work of art as they are a piece of lighting.
