Powerful Psychedelic Papercrafts

Artist Jen Stark Creates Hypnotic Stop Motion Videos

Miami-based artist Jen Stark is known for her excellent use of papercrafts, which have earned her coverage on Trend Hunter before. In the latest animation from Jen Stark called, 'Believer,' she utilizes a series of colored paper sculptures to create a stop-motion video that is both dizzying and hypnotic.

A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Stark has been attracting fans and critics alike to her work for her magnificent and varied use of colors, which often give her paper sculptures a psychedelic vibe. Ironically, she came to paper sculptures completely by accident. "I made my first construction paper piece during college when I went to study in France," she said. "Since we were only allowed to bring two suitcases for five months I decided I’d just get my art supplies when I got there. Well, the Euro was way above the dollar and things were expensive, so I decided to get one of the cheapest things -- a stack of construction paper - and see what I could do with it. And then the sculptures where born."

The latest Jen Stark exhibit, 'Double Rainbow Rainbow' is being held at the Show & Tell gallery in Toronto, and it runs from May 12th to June 12, 2011. Check out our gallery and video to see some of the work Jen Stark will display tonight and head to her website to learn more.
