The epidemic of burnout among young people is a concerning issue that has been recognized as a disease by the World Health Organization and this growing problem is being brought to light by a new campaign in Denmark that features human candles.
The constant pressure to excel in academics, career and social life is leaving today's youth feeling physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted, and the human candles that are appearing across the country bring awareness to the fact that research shows "44% of Danish youth are feeling burnt out."
These human candles will burn for about two months, representing the mental health of today's youth. Fortunately, Danish schools have introduced a mental health day on March 9th.
