London design studio Raw Edges designs the unique range of Horah Lights inspired by a traditional Israeli dance. The Horah Lights are comprised of 30 glass-constructed lamps in a range of colors and sizes. Every single piece gently spins so keep it all in motion, which nods to the original inspiration. The Horah dance was very popular in Israel back in the 50s and it was essentially a group of individuals dancing in a circle. The designers liked the concept of many things moving altogether in the same synchronized speed because it seems to exude a sense of power. This idea was implemented into the 30 lamps as each one boasts the curved glass detail and spins gently at the same speed.
The shape is constantly changing as it stays consistently in motion, so Raw Edges expressed that one of the challenges was to make something that looked pleasing from all angles. The Horah Lights are currently showcased at Spazio Krizia as a part of design week but Raw Edges plans to create an iteration for mass production.
